"They", I assume, is CNN. A news platform iirc.
There's been numerous threads about face mask efficacy on jsp and I (among others) have already dropped all the necessary proof as to why wearing them makes sense.
There are meta-analyses to justify that stance. If there are now newer meta-analyses of equal or higher quality disregarding that scientific finding, I am happy to read the articles presented.
If you're not fully read-in on the subject, the story-in-a-nutshell is as follows:
1) Face masks do not stop aerosolic infection
2) Face masks (even cloth ones) do stop droplet-related infections
3) People interpret 1) as a justification to not wear masks "because they do not work". I venture this has something to do with the fact that it is a respiratory illness and thus people expect aerosolic infection to be the major component of infection rates
4) Using masks that prevent aerosolic infection on top of droplet infection did not reduce infectivity rates with a statistical significance
5) Using masks that prevent droplet infection reduces infectivity rate with statistical significance. The meta-analyses I often cited on JSP uses an OR of 0.55. I assume you know what this means or have the capacity to learn what it means by yourself.
The spread of sars-cov2 is mainly through droplet infection. This is why cloth masks are useful despite their sheer inability to reduce aerosolic release of virus particles. The innoculation through airbourne particles is just too little to cause an infection for nearly everyone who comes across these particles. In other words, you need "more" virus particles to become infected than you are likely to get with aerosols without droplets. I emphasize point 4.

I shall give this a proper read later to see if your sources check out and if the articles are worth the read. I suspect they have been refuted, have low study quality, are not free from conflict of interests or do not produce enough power for a conclusion, but at least you came up with enough material to justify looking into it. I'm in the middle of my exams though so it may take a while (weeks), but remind me if I haven't gotten back to you before February.
masks hit saturation point in 15 to 30 minutes. after that your just gurgling through moisture.
i am not here to defend anything styx claims, i am just sharing his vid and a poll. he actually isnt gloating as much as he usually does.
i did however add the CNN vid about cloth masks to my thread "no masks"
