Do you really think he's only using that one data point? Is that a reasonable inference here?

He's using Dole's endorsement of Trump as evidence for his theory that the GOP is rotten to the core, which is simply ridiculous. I'm not questioning the theory, I'm questioning this particular piece of evidence.

I disagree. The fact that the entire party even the old ones with no political future endorsed Trump directly speaks to the rottenness of the GOP.

And that's what I disagree with. Dole was freakin' 93 y/o in 2016, he probably barely knew Trump, if he even followed day-to-day politics at all. Publicly speaking out against the nominee of the party to which you dedicated the majority of your life would be a huuuuuuge step, expecting it from a 93 year old is ludicrous.

Man you really go out of your way to make excuses lol

Hes a life long party member. Do you really think he didnt know Trump? Or that he wasn't following the election? Or that he wasn't familiar with someone who had run just four years earlier in his partys primary?

And if he isn't familiar he is in no position to make an endorsement regardless. Although I think its far more ridiculous to think he wasnt still following along.

Let's say he was following along - disavowing the GOP nominee would still be a huge break with the party he had supported and fought for throughout his whole life. Considering the fact that he wasn't willing to take such a drastic step to be indicative of the "rot of the GOP" is still ludicrous.

Again, you can criticize his endorsement of Trump, fair enough. But taking this endorsement as evidence for the alleged rot of the GOP is still an improper conclusion.
