That's more or less the issue we've been having for a long time.

Instead of investing in long-term solutions we take the easy way out for short term profit and then worry about the clean up later. Except the clean up never comes.

This kind of thing is EVERYWHERE. Even medical devices aren't safe from it. The first professor I did research under worked as a consultant for pharma. He was in a meeting where they were going over new filters for dialysis machines. He basically said there's no way they can use the filter because it will absolutely break down in the cleaning procedure and shard after a relatively short time, and will result in deaths. The marketing team just said "We've estimated the cost of lawsuits from the patients affected will be X amount, which is significantly less than what we save by doing this".

That is a failure in regulation though.

You cannot place blame on the free market because they failed to regulate this.

You blame the government for the actions of corporations? Is there anything at all you'd hold businesses accountable for?

Dude, if regulation is required, how can you say that isn't a market failure? By that logic literally nothing would be a market failure.

been a while since i actually watched it - but i do recall him falsely raising alarm about voting machines being internet hackable

my point stands. if trump won, people would be posting that report non stop

whereas the trumpers lost and blamed voting machines and people call them retards

if you can't see this blatant hypocrisy thor, you are probably a retard yourself

Showing as the very first part of the video shows somebody telling Congress how dangerous it is, clearly advocating for some sort of regulation, there is absolutely blame on the government on some level. Oliver also says one major part of the problem is that they were allowed to regulate themselves essentially and there was no follow through.

And by that logic anything that has had a negative outcome can be blamed on the manufacturer and not on regulation failures, nullifying many of your positions on various topics.

Not to mention that is one of the weakest arguments I have seen on this sub. Just because something needs to be regulated, it was a failure. Come on

Though I can vividly remember you saying, “yes I can have it both ways” a few days ago, so I must concede your power of being able to hold multiple positions as long as you sound like you have a point.
