A national education starts with a standardized set of knowledge students are supposed to know prior to graduation. Need a common core of knowledge for American education.
It is crazy that one side says math is too racist to teach because of pronouns or something and the Right is saying our history is too racist to teach truthfully so we have to lie to kids because they're embarrassed and murica is gud.
I can't wait for like 5 years down the road when this pronoun trend is over. The Right will still keep trying to gaslight students and say segregation didn't happen or Plessy v Ferguson was a good ruling or that slavery wasn't as bad as they said because who beats up their nice car?
I never heard of the Tulsa Race Massacre the the destruction of black wall street until a television show, so the anti-CRT crowd has been gaslighting for a long-time now.
I agree with Goomshill on this subject, the anti-intellectualism of politics is pervasive.
I don't know if I believe in gifted kids. I've interacted with a lot of gifted kids and a lot of them are really good at math but not so good at talking to people and lack emotional intelligence. It is like calling an autistic savant gifted, that is framing. A lot of these gifts come with a mental rigidity that doesn't come with a healthy mind.
It wouldn't hurt schools to teach non-white knowledge sometimes though. I know this is offensive to a lot of people like Goom that schools not EXCLUSIVELY teach the history of anglos, language of anglos, philosophy of the white males, musical history of european art, etc.
Not sure if calculus is important in high school. Seems like something you can learn in college if you're going to be advanced at that stuff. I agree with Soviet education with this, shouldn't be trying to teach every american kid calculus, there are better things to learn that are actually useful in life.

How much math do people really need? Most jobs don’t require a high level of math. But, math challenges peoples’ brains. The dumbing down is an indication of fear, that someone at the top think that people are too smart and well informed. It’s not a solution and it never was. But for them at the top, it is a solution.
Goom is right on the math denial problem. Biden beat Trump by seven MILLION votes yet half the country struggle with numerical facts and are indeed completely retarded. Or Gifted. However you want to frame it. Functional in their own special way
