Reasonable suspicion is always subjective - that's why we have a court of law to parse out the facts.

Did these cops abuse their authority? Not really - if I see some sketchy looking kid in a hoodie is roaming around a building I work at, I want to know what he's up to, as well. I think that constitutes reasonable suspicion and if a cop stopped me for doing the same thing, I would be perfectly happy to explain why I was there and what my purpose was - without needing to be handcuffed.


What we have here is simply another case of idiot kids with an attitude problem letting things escalate too far, just because they have more hormones than brains.

Police have the power to detain pretty much anyone they please, but this belies a social contract that they typically follow that goes something like this: Don't start none - won't be none.


I have never in my life had a police officer even give me a glance, because I'm a normal human being who doesn't stalk random buildings and get people to call the police on me. Behavioral indicators have consequences - you can't just be acting sketchy as fuck and expect society not to respond at least with curiosity.
