problem with abortion is it is used as a contraceptive method.

the vast majority of abortions are used for this.

the rape/incest/fetus has problems/mom has problems are the exceptions.

let's just assume that idiotic claim was 100% right, there are still two questions that immediately come to mind:

- why are republicans simply ignoring those "exceptions"? literally no one stopped them from addressing and exempting those from their legislation - but they didn't even do that. criminalising the termination of a pregnancy resulting from a rape is some really backwards sharia kind of bullshit.
- why do republican lawmakers oppose the demonstrably most efficient ways of preventing unwanted pregnancy, namely comprehensive sex education and easy access to contraceptives / health care?

the most obvious giveaway that this is not about "protecting life" but clearly about regulating women (especially poor ones) is their snitch hotline...

Dr. Nisha Verma, an OB-GYN who specializes in abortion care and works at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

So this Dr. specializes in murder, very nice…

It amazes me the logic and morality that falls apart for pro-choicers aka pro-baby killers

The fact abortion is still a “hot topic debate” just goes to show the lack of religion in society and the increase in demonic egotistical behaviors

You can't be a baby killer when it isnt even a baby you retard

clearly ur a fuckin man bro

A Woman has a right to choose what the fuck goes on in nher body and if she doesnt want to carry an embryo into fetus for 9 months then fuckin eh. This is about a WOmans right to her body not anything else

Like if ur so fucking archaic that you truly dont think a Woman should have the right to choose what the fuck happens to her own fucking body then ur like severely fuckin stupid

BnP trash strikes again

No masks because it's your body your choice in Texas, but when it comes to your reproductive organs it's the government's choice

Literally can't even get an abortion if you've been raped/incest...this is insane

MYTH: Women have abortions for selfish or frivolous
reasons.
The decision to have an abortion is rarely simple. Most
women base their decision on several factors, the most
common being lack of money and/or unreadiness to start or
expand their families due to existing responsibilities. Many
feel that the most responsible course of action is to wait until
their situation is more suited to childrearing; 66% plan to
have children when they are older, financially able to provide
necessities for them, and/or in a supportive relationship with
a partner so their children will have two parents8
. Others
wanted to get pregnant but developed serious medical
problems, learned that the fetus had severe abnormalities, or
experienced some other personal crisis. About 13,000
women each year have abortions because they have become
pregnant as a result of rape or incest1
.

Results
Women’s reasons for seeking an abortion fell into 11 broad themes. The predominant themes identified as reasons for seeking abortion included financial reasons (40%), timing (36%), partner related reasons (31%), and the need to focus on other children (29%). Most women reported multiple reasons for seeking an abortion crossing over several themes (64%). Using mixed effects multivariate logistic regression analyses, we identified the social and demographic predictors of the predominant themes women gave for seeking an abortion.

Conclusions
Study findings demonstrate that the reasons women seek abortion are complex and interrelated, similar to those found in previous studies. While some women stated only one factor that contributed to their desire to terminate their pregnancies, others pointed to a myriad of factors that, cumulatively, resulted in their seeking abortion. As indicated by the differences we observed among women’s reasons by individual characteristics, women seek abortion for reasons related to their circumstances, including their socioeconomic status, age, health, parity and marital status. It is important that policy makers consider women’s motivations for choosing abortion, as decisions to support or oppose such legislation could have profound effects on the health, socioeconomic outcomes and life trajectories of women facing unwanted pregnancies.

Abstract
Most respondents to a survey of abortion patients in 1987 said that more than one factor had contributed to their decision to have an abortion; the mean number of reasons was nearly four. Three-quarters said that having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities, about two-thirds said they could not afford to have a child and half said they did not want to be a single parent or had relationship problems. A multivariate analysis showed young teenagers to be 32 percent more likely than women 18 or over to say they were not mature enough to raise a child and 19 percent more likely to say their parents wanted them to have an abortion. Unmarried women were 17 percent more likely than currently married women to choose abortion to prevent others from knowing they had had sex or became pregnant. Of women who had an abortion at 16 or more weeks' gestation, 71 percent attributed their delay to not having realized they were pregnant or not having known soon enough the actual gestation of their pregnancy. Almost half were delayed because of trouble in arranging the abortion, usually because they needed time to raise money. One-third did not have an abortion earlier because they were afraid to tell their partner or parents that they were pregnant. A multivariate analysis revealed that respondents under age 18 were 39 percent more likely than older women to have delayed because they were afraid to tell their parents or partner.
