America getting shat on by mudslingers never ceases to amaze me. Losing wars to the Vietnamese and Afghans is just embarrassing

If the Taliban can capture Afghanistan within two weeks after 20 years of US military intervention and all the training given to Afghan forces, then you have to question whether Afghans actually want the Taliban in charge

they don't. that's why so many fled or at least sent their wives and daughters to the few remaining cities not under taliban control. it's a real humanitarian crisis, and it will result in yet another massive stream of refugees, which america will simply reject to take in again - despite being one of the main culprits for this tragedy.

doesn't mean them staying would have done any good for the afghan people - it's very clear that they achieved basically nothing in all those years, and it's about time they ended their occupation of foreign countries altogether - it's just frustrating that others always have to pay the price for america's war mongering...

If they really didn't want the Taliban in charge they wouldn't have tens of thousands of deserters when the Taliban's numbers are only 85,000 strong. There are 38m people in Afghanistan...

oh, by "they" you meant those deserters, many of which probably just choosing the lesser evil confronted with a "join us or die" decision... i thought you meant the afghan people as a whole, or at least a majority of almost 40m afghans...

it's obviously impossible to figure out exactly what most afghans want, especially given the current situation, but i doubt that either the taliban's rapid military conquest of afghan cities nor any estimate of "deserters" you can currently find would serve as any kind of reliable evidence that the afghan people as a whole would want that band of raping fundamentalists in charge - although i'm sure there's a not insignificant portion that actually do...

who is "they"? willpower to do what? do you think it's a genetic thing?

I think it's pretty clear based on current events. "They" would be the Afghan security forces and they lack the willpower to defend their country.

You raise an interesting question regarding genetics and that is certainly a factor here.

Unfortunately, America isn't there to be shat on. The people of Afghanistan would be better off if America kept a small force there indefinitely but if Americans are okay with Afghanistan falling, then there's not much else to do. We're a democracy after all.

Man, if only we'd just wage a little more war, we could won!

Completely missed the plot.

America has been pounding the Taliban back to the stoneage - only to 'pull out' and let them restock with American funded weapons for decades. Mark my words - once the Taliban achieve total control of Afghanistan, Biden will announce a humanitarian crisis and we will be right back in the shit, bombing the fuck out of those Humvees we just gave the Taliban. (But not before said Humvees are used to take over civilian populations and rape/murder women and children, of course.)

More war economy bull shit that will continue to ruin lives.
