the thing is, you can only really do that once. in most cases you've burned your goodwill and have a timeframe on your inevitable former position being distributed amongst your co-workers (in most cases). or some new person just takes it. exceptions exist of course but using other job offers to raise your salary is a short-term solution. now maybe you leverage that to actually leave a year later and have a better base to negotiate off of, that's a smart play.
it's like going out and doing the dirty with some floozy elsewhere and then going back home and sleeping in your own bed without even showering or brushing your teeth. the damage is done
yup and that's what a lot of guys do. the 3 year shuffle. work 1 year, interview, get a raise, work another few years, interview, new job at higher pay, repeat.
some of my peers have worked at 5 companies and theyre in their late 30s early 40s. some of the older PMs have worked at 10 places lol. conveyor is wild.
