Canada day was yesterday and all I saw even in my little rural areas were people calling it KKKcanada.

Probably one of the most desired countries to live on earth and its well taught in public school that we raped, scalped and eliminated the natives, so I am not sure where this is all going to be honest. The history of residential schools are fairly well taught in Canadian History that is part of grade 10 curriculum everywhere I believe.

No I do not so the most recent memory I have is my own education which was many years ago. It's possible that it was covered in elementary, and I have just forgotten or the subject matter didnt stick.

we learned a lot about it in middle school/high school here. but it's now being taught in kindergarten which i find strange. literal children don't understand why the adults are separating them into groups of oppressor and victim

i personally was not aware of the mass graves so the last few months were an eye opener

i thought these schools were just reeducation camps that stripped people of their previous identity

I know growing up I probably would not have understood or digested the information as I would have in my teen years. As a child anyone who wanted to play tag or grounders in the equipment was good in my books. I would think in those early development years, it's the parent's responsibility to ensure their child does not view people as separate groups based on varying physical or cultural differences or look at people as if they are or were a victim. Obviously, in later year after some further brain development you can begin to teach kids that it was not always this way and historically people were separated or judged based on physical and cultural differences.

they were likely marked at some point with poor quality wooden crosses, but this is another thing we don't know (and may never know) but in my opinion it's reasonable to assume (as long as those preists feared god enough like they should)

I travel Nunavut frequently as well as small towns throughout NWT and the graves are barely marked, and old burial grounds are unmarked and just known by locals who have knowledge that will either get passed down or it wont.

I am not saying atrocities didn't happen but unmarked is very loose when you hear it in the news when clearly there was no tradition to marking them and if there is sometimes it's just a few rocks. So many groups that all have different traditions.
