With UBI and automation will come mass robotization and insane amount of lost job.
Automation, by definition, has to eliminate jobs.
UBI is the simplest way to offset that lost labor demand without dismantling a capitalist system or letting people die.

I like this idea, if i was to design one it would be a capitalist democratic socialism with nationalised resources and the primary goal to be of net benefit to all citizens, ubi/negative income tax, tax rates at 20% maximum, corporate tax rate at 20% but with no loop holes or tax breaks.
Make capitalism work for the people not the other way around.
This would work here in australia, not so much in larger countries like the united states.
I would also slash migration down to the best and brightest.
And a solid bill of rights, enshrining freedom of speech and exploration.
Hunters, fishers and prospectors will have access to all large land sites instead of locking down 150 miles of coast because a multinational investor bought it and locked everyone out.
Social democracies can succeed in countries with smaller populations. I’m not sure how well it would do in a larger economy like the US or China, but it is absolutely more likely an outcome in the US than any leftist pipe dream.

Here we go again. Why dont communist idealists identify the main reason for the failure and their lame excuses for their utopia. Anyone with common sense and streetsmarts will quickly point out that it all hinges on complete pure and incorruptible benevolent human beings for that to work. Even a trace of greed and wicked thought will very quickly put that entire system on its head.
If I was to design a political system it would be very closely resemble constitutional Republic with constitution being iron clad. Removal of federal reserve and replacing it with something like and open transparent without usuary
No system in good faith claims to have an answer to corruption.
Constitutional Republics have fallen prey to corruption, famously, within the last century.
