I believe the author of that quote meant it with respect to us becoming an economy of renters, described as a hypothetical.

It was dumb to put it that way, specifically the "... and you'll be happy", because it was always going to get mixed in with the "eat the fucking bugs" sort of narrative.

I mean... there is little doubt that Schwab and the other WEF guys would like the future for plebs to be something along these lines:


They strive for corporate world domination, with no more pesky voters, national governments or organized labor being able to mess up their business or challenge their decisions.



This does, of course, not imply that there is some sort of huge, global conspiracy where the league of super villains meets every year in a medieval castle to discuss the progress of their evil, 50-year plan or stuff like that. There can be no doubt, however, that these people do not have the interest of the common man in mind and would force all of us into serfdom if they could.
