In this particular case, the policy is extra moronic. If separating children from their parents is inhumane and ethically/morally unacceptable, and you are unwilling to turn away the children in their own right, then the only logical conclusion is that you have to eventually let in all families. The uncomfortable truth is that merely deciding not to turn children away already gets you 85% of the way to an open borders policy. It's almost as if Democrats put themselves in a bind by supercharging the issue during the Trump years.

Mexico was willing to be an ally and work with us on the border situation during President Trump's administration, despite all the tensions. Both leadership sets wanted to mitigate illegal migration to their countries and acted accordingly. Mexico no longer has any desire or incentive to continue this process now. Just let everyone through and let the USA deal with it. now why did this all of a sudden surge start like last month anyway?
