- boys should be turned into girls
- girls should be turned into boys
- black criminals are not criminals cuz they're black
- white men are bad cuz they're white
- everything LGBTQ is very good and scores major points

They did indeed. It's frightening to think that the major newsroom in the United States is recycling a Fox News opinion defense.

They've done it multiple times, most recently Tucker Carlson.

Honestly, any competent lawyer will make this defense since it also prevents lawsuits in the future. Even if it has little chance of succeeding.

The difference here is that Tucker Carlson is obviously opinion, and Fox News has always drawn a hard line between their opinion and news segments.

NYT does the same, but here we are specifically talking about an article published as news, which NYT policy insists does not contain subjective elements. Readers are therefore led to believe that what they're reading is "fact", opening up the NYT to libel suits.
