Atheists come from a broad range of ideologies with a broad range of views on prison reform/abolition.

Speaking only for myself, as an anarchist I view the carceral system of the USA as not fit for purpose. It doesn't reduce crime, it enslaves people and causes further criminality.

I would ideally advocate for a system of rehabilitation that incarcerates people only when absolutely necessary to protect the public or individual from serious harm.

Rather than the retributive system of slavery as punishment that exists now to support private interests making money off the back of slaves.
