to be clear, armed robbery is a fucking serious crime, and should definitely come with serious punishment. i just think it's incredibly dangerous to support letting police execute that kind of power all on their own, especially in america with its systemic flaws and 'shoot first, ask questions later' approach to policing.

Darkfire was a trip, although I missed a fair amount of his tenure in PaRD when I took a couple year hiatus from this sub, and stayed pretty much in the CHD and Hockey subs for that time. Tric totally went cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, though.

I'm in favour of the death penalty for serious crimes such as armed robbery and home invasions however I do believe in due process and do not support having the police execute suspects unless their own life is in danger.

Putting aside my own dislike of delinquents I think the swedish model which is much more lenient in terms of rehabilitating criminals and reducing redicisivism is better for society and as much as I think it's too soft that may be the better approach to dealing with crime.

I think too many people are drawn to the idea of "I should be able to do whatever I want" without that being leavened by "I should still be responsible about the things that I do."

I'm not saying I miss Tric, but I am saying I miss the way PaRD was when he was a regular poster.
