ah yes, the unanimous decision of an unpolitical supreme court, totally not nominated by politicians that were firmly beholden to gun manufacturers, definitively tells us what even basic reading comprehension, history knowledge, and common sense, as well as some serious and independent legal scholars put into question.

either you're so ignorant that you genuinely think your NRA reading of the second amendment is the only one, or you hope that you can misrepresent the lack of a screenshot as the lack of an alternative position. both laughably weak and undesirable starting points for a serious conversation. i choose to dodge it, we've been over this too often. deal with it, gun nut.

You're the one pretending these insurmountable arguments for your positions exist. I know they don't, which is why you don't produce them. You're not so much "dodging" as you are acknowledging tacitly that you can't back up your tired platitudes.

I didnt say it will make Democrats look good, I said they hope it will make Republicans look bad. If there's a school shooting between the time this bill (inevitably) fails in Congress and election day, they can point to the bill and argue "see, we told you so, this would not have happened if the evil obstructionist moronic [insert 2 more paragraphs of a fender impersonation] had supported our CoMmOn SenSe GuN rEfOrM!!!!!11".

But yeah, I agree that it's a bad strategic choice for Democrats and classic overreach. Opposing this bill will close the ranks of a roiled up GOP and remind wavering conservatives who are on the fence due to Jan 6/Trump/impeachment of what's at stake when Democrats are given control. And while stuff like an assault weapon ban has majority support in polls, I really dont think the same will hold true for a public firearms registry or expensive and mandatory insurance.
