"If states and cities put strong public health measures in place that we all follow, then my team will work to see that the majority of our schools can be open by the end of my first 100 days."
"If a condition that everyone knows is unrealistic is satisfied, then we might perhaps be able to end the school closures after more than 3 months."
In other words: under his plan, they would probably stay closed for far more than 100 days, something like 180 or so sounds more realistic if America really went for the proposed strategy.
I have to agree with others, this is insanity. The lack of learning, socializing, stimulation for our children would have catastrophic long-term ramifications. On top of that, it would also exacerbate inequality since kids with educated parents are at a huge advantage in a home schooling environment, compared with those whose parents have little formal qualification, perhaps dont even speak proper English, etc. Dito when it comes to housing: children living in a big house with a big garden could cope with staying at home for 100 days, those living in crowded apartments where they share a room with 2 siblings cant.
