I reponded to ghots first post, in which he stated: "In remembrance of those who were brave, so we could be free." No goal posts moved at all.
If he had said "So BP could be free" then i would have to move goal posts.

Well if "we" refers to south koreans then i can add the korea war veterans to the list.

Same for the Hmong people.

Look, I agree that US interventionism is generally to be frowned upon, but the mere service our veterans provide as a worldwide deterrent to wholesale warfare that characterized the early 20th century is something to be applauded.

If the us wasn't a warmonger wed have been taken down and split up. Too much land with too many resources. Wars were still wrong but they also kept us citizens free.

This is the most horrible and ignorant thing you could possibly say.

Soldiers do NOT determine how they serve, in the US. The government is a CIVILIAN government. If you want to point fingers and get uppity, do so at the politicians.

All those who served and are still alive and no longer in service are veterans. And ALL of them wrote a blank check, payment including everything up to and including their lives, for the safety, security, and freedom of their nation. They willingly became tools of the people. If the representatives who used those tools used those tools poorly, go after the representatives, not the veterans.
