- Lived the privileged life of a US senator for 40 years straight.
- Became VP because Obama was looking for the most average white dude he could find.
- Became the Democratic nominee in 2020 after barely campaigning at all, because a plurality of primary voters and the DNC thought a generic white dude would be the best bet at taking down Trump.
- Might become POTUS after hiding in his basement for 180 days and not doing anything noteworthy all campaign long, simply because of his opponent's self-destructive tendencies and a once-in-a-century pandemic.

The various Presidents and Senators have put in way more than us lowly basement dwellers who cling to a dead game's subforum for minimal, inconsequential social interaction have.

Well, none of us has any aspirations of becoming the president of the united states and leader of the free world... ok, inky might still dream of becoming the Chairman of the Comintern, but that's about it.
Very generally speaking, I think that people should be compared with their peers, not with plebs. And compared to other career politicians who have had a long tenure in Congress and/or a long career in national politics, Biden is indeed a mediocre figure.

Biden has been a prominent senator for a very long time authoring a ton of very impactful (for better or worse) legislation, then was vice president.

Every time somebody on the left goes up they're always "mediocre" or "haven't done anything" because you guys prioritize the echo chamber over a google search.

Trump's daddy paid for his undergraduate degree. Donald doesn't even have a masters degree.

A prominent position and mediocrity do not necessarily contradict each other, not even in politics. See presidents Ford, Carter and G.W. Bush, perhaps also Trump. (Although he isnt so much mediocre as he's hit or miss - in each category, he's either really strong or absolutely abysmal.)

To see how mediocre Biden has been as a politician, look no further than his presidential bids in 1988 and 2008, which both failed miserably. And he didnt run too strong of a primary campaign in 2019/20 either, he finished 4th in Iowa and 5th in New Hampshire. He only won the nomination because of Clyburn's endorsement and because Comrade Sanders threatened to run away with the nomination, prompting the non-far-left parts of the party to rally around the most credible center-left guy in the field.

The very fact that a man of Biden's stature and vita was unable to clear the field is proof of his weakness as a candidate. If he had been as brilliant as a senator as you claim he was, then his earlier presidential bids would have gotten more traction, and if he was a strong campaigner, he wouldnt have struggled until Super Tuesday to win the 2020 nomination.

His lead in the general election campaign is almost entirely attributable to Trump's own litany of blunders and failures as well as the global pandemic (and Trump's botched response to this pandemic in particular).

Joe Biden is an epic cringe meme factory. Im kind of grateful he's running.
