are the socialist policies of the democratic party just not going far enough then, i suppose you believe?

All Democrats with power are corporatists lol

The most "socialist" you get is with Bernie, who doesn't even mean socialism as much as he means the style of democracy we had in the 50's and 60's where we had public investment instead of corporate tax breaks.

socialist policy vs ''corrupt corporate policy''

America is unique in a lot of ways. One of those ways seems to be - peppering even a little bit of socialism seems to have emergent properties that differ greatly from other countries.

Like I said before in a different thread, I'm Canadian and so yes it's easy for me to agree that your democrats are far right politically. But sometimes they do indeed dabble with left wing policy.

My curiosity wants to question whether the failures of democratic socialist programs lies in the fact they do it wrong and it's weak - Or if America is just the wrong place to practice it

There is no "vs". Both sides are mostly "corrupt corporate party", but the democrats have a sliver of "let's do the things the rest of the world does". People like Biden and Pelosi will pander to the left, and will largely do nothing even with a supermajority.

now that's something I know to be true. Politicians are always doing that no matter what side they are on going into an election - and what side they come out at the end of their term

Yeah, I get a laugh any time somebody calls Democrats socialist. They're corporate apologists for the most part. American discourse does not include any level of socialism, and the stuff we have left over from the past keeps getting whittled away.

I believe the concern is how much the Democrats have been flirting with socialism these days. Their track record is the opposite for sure.

They've only been "flirting" with socialism in the sense that they're tossing a rhetorical bone to the left that will swiftly fly out the window once elected with only minor changes.

The "socialism" line is just stupid and only appeals to the people who don't actually pay attention. There's a reason "Obama socialist" is a meme on this forum.

when young voters are screaming for it, and government officials of all levels within the dems respond with their fists in the air, i'd say there's a reason to pay attention to that.

The most "socialism" Biden will get behind is a public option, and he says he's fine with a higher minimum wage but avoids talking about it.

Like I said, you're getting some symbolism as they throw the left a bone, but they're not going to threaten their corporate masters.
