even if costs were 1/10th what healthcare pays providers cancer would bankrupt 99% of people.

we could make health insurance cover more serious issues and cut out overpriced regular visits/procedures, but i doubt many people will save the excess for a rainy day.

i just dont see ala carte healthcare as a very good option, it will cause massive bankruptcies with the population we have. hell even child birth would fuck up society if it was out of pocket.

All im saying is in a nation with such a massive % of people living paycheck to paycheck (sub $1000 in savings) i dont see eliminating insurance as a net positive. they'll normalize their spending and not save any more than they would if insured.

What does that mean though? The same procedure will have a different cost based on the type of insurance you have. Even if you have full transparency, no one will know what things mean because you need to be a medical expert to understand how and why they are used.
