We need de-regulation in housing, not free status-quo setups. In areas of the US with the largest housing problems, things like THOW are still outlawed. Meanwhile, in those same areas people can live year-round on a boat unmolested.
My point is, there are a lot of bullshit things impacting housing creating this trapped renter class who pays ~4% more than mortgage and competes with gov subsidized neighbors. Recently, the city near me made big moves to legalize ADU as year round residence, but they are moving slow as hell in general while the homeless pop grows.
