I've heard that there can be an argument that any citizen can vote, since equal protections should include the right to run for office. It would obviously need to be tested by the supreme court and isn't likely to succeed, but it's a coherent argument based on a constitutional amendment.

Any citizen can vote or run? I thought you had to be a natural born citizen to run for President?

I meant run.

As it stands you need to be a natural born citizen to run for the presidency, but there's an argument to be made that "equal protections under the law" also implies equal right to run for office, since the right to be a representative would certainly be a protection under the law.

Oh, that makes sense. I'd be interested to see what would happen if someone managed enough momentum to force that discussion and a possible amendment.

Don't see it happening though.

It would likely get shot down, and likely won't ever be an issue regardless. The only case I could see it happening is if somebody came as a very young child of an illegal immigrant.

Could just make the requirements be natural born us citizen 35 years of age and if not natural born, 30 or more years of being a US citizen as an adult.

Might as well. I still live in shothole Missouri so no matter who I vote for it's going to be counted as for Trump

I life in MO too and I wouldn't be so sure. Not long ago Missouri was actually a bellweather state and voted both ways. STL KC and Boone county almost always vote blue, so if the turnout is high it isnt impossible, especially with a more moderate candidate like Biden.

I'll be getting Cannabis on the ballot for you guys in 2022.
