On that subject, this is a really good take down of that kind of thing. He breaks down the "studies" that showed that blacks in Africa have really low IQs and dissects the book where those kinds of things got spread. The short version is that the data we are all familiar with seeing on IQ isn't actually IQ data. The "blacks have an IQ of 60 in Africa" data isn't actually IQ data, but is a math test that can't be converted to IQ. Additionally the military data from WW2 that originally linked IQ with prosperity wasn't an IQ test either, it was a large general survey that was then "turned" into IQ data, but the process of converting it added IQ based on several factors including their families income level, and so when people looked at the regression and saw "oh, look, IQ correlates with income" it wasn't valid. Very good listen if you have time.
