In a move long anticipated, Reddit has cracked down in advance of the election by banning any political expression outside its permitted neoliberal orthodoxy. Its their biggest banwave of all time.
There were some leakers warning people this was coming today, and turned out OP was not a fag for once.
The new content policy bans all "hate speech" and redefines that term to say "hate speech" doesn't count if its targeted at a "group in the majority" or "hateful group", in which case its allowed.
They are rapidly knocking down subreddits, with 2000 getting the axe in one day, with The_Donald being notable but purely ceremonial as they were inactive for 4 months after leaving for their own platform
Lists are just pouring in now, meme subs like /r/consumeproduct and /r/bruhfunny, and political ones like /r/rightwinglgbt among them, with /r/chapotraphouse being their obvious token ban for the left, apparently kept alive only to sacrifice today.
genderritical, wojak, thenewright, smuggies, looks like anything 4chan related except 4chan sub itself (?) also campusconservative, soyboys, whitebeauty,

This was all pretty easy to see coming. Reddit admins weren't going to let their site host anything but Biden loyalists going into the 2020 elections. With the George Floyd cancel culture providing good cover, it was time for something they were planning for a long time anyway.

Nice maybe a little even playing field considering how much republicans randomly throw out baseless slander and lies.

Typical Republican in their natural habitat which is exclusively bitching about change, regardless of where it is.

dont think its gonna do too much harm by not promoting dumb shit like the people above say.

reddit seems to be uninformed when it comes to the global ethnic and racial makeup (the internet is not limited to one specific country or region)

Also note that first sentence: they are not saying "Reddit is for creating [...], not for attacking people, period". No, they explicitly say "reddit is for creating, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people". It's as if they're going out of their way to imply that attacking groups of people deemed non-marginalized or non-vulnerable would be okay-ish.

Spez himself even clarified that while everyone is protected by reddit's rules against harassment, bullying and violence, the "hate-section" of the new ruleset is indeed not intended to protect everyone:

Users are generally not reacting well to this glaring double standard on "hate speech" at all. Tons of posts raising the same points and calling spez and the rest of the reddit leadership out for implementing such a murky and unegalitarian ruleset.

I suspect they are already here.

I wouldn't know, I've never used that site before.

You forgot to cross-reference that with access to Internet and the history of access to Internet vs. ethnic and racial demographics. I almost guarantee that the Reddit you see today is like 90% white, probably 70% male, and that most of those banned sub forums even more so, and that it was likely much more so even back 5 years ago.

Circumstantial evidence in my life -- I know quite a few women who use it. Probably not as skewed as most online nerd communities.

Well, I literally did mean the Reddit that HE sees, being a crazy ass Trump supporter. I’m sure as a whole it is probably closer to 75% white and 60% male today.

Oh, that's fair then.
