Biden has his own baggage. Particularly the 1994/1997 crime bills that led to large increases in incarceration, expansion of police power, and militarization of police forces.

And Trump was a pro-abortion non-religious liberal until he had to appeal to evangelicals. Even if you're cynical about people in politics evolving on issues(which is misplaced, many people evolve on issues for good faith reasons), it's natural to expect Biden to adopt a pro-criminal justice reform agenda simply for political reasons.

The same goes for foreign policy, imo. Interventionism is not popular.
