Societal harms don't have easy solutions. In another world, without the taint of weaponized politicization pervading every facet of society, this wouldn't
be an issue. Its like the Civil Rights Act of 1964- if racism wasn't so endemic, we wouldn't need federal intervention. If Google, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc could be actually trusted to operate freely and fairly without turning into a circlejerking power trippers every time they have the slightest control to abuse, no intervention would be warranted. But right now it would be justified. Not easy to pull off, a complicated and case-by-case requirement that could take some time drafting plans carefully so you don't backfire and create more fascism than the fascism you're fighting.
