LMAO, neither of these is true, and people are justified in reviling FDR. Coolidge did do better, he didn't "rule" the US, and had nothing to do with the onset of the Great Depression.

Liberals make their own messes just fine, to be talking about cleaning up other people's messes. Like how liberals pretend that the Great Recession was borne of conservative policies, and that Obama came along and cleaned it up. Neither of these happened.

GLBA 1990 happened bro, removed Glass Steagall, and the thing that GS was designed to prevent happened.

I don't know what you have against causation.

Non internationalism has been a pretty central tenant making up the backbone of the modern left for quite awhile. Vietnam, Iraq just to name a few very public ones.
Look up the sit ins in the 60s or the anti intervention movements made up of mainly young lefties, or the fact that there was a fair amount of liberals saying we shouldn't go into Iraq.

Isolationist/interventionism can't really be broken down by left or right ideology. It's prevalent on both sides evolving over time.

You are conflating anti imperialism with anti intervention.

/e with less snark. I sound like a douche lol. I'll explain myself.

The war of Vietnam was similar to the war in the Philippines. It was a war to open and preserve markets. If you notice they prioritized preserving infrastructure over American lives during these conflicts.

This was not the same as defending Democracy Europe.

It took Pearl Harbor for the conservatives to get motivated, and they still didn't want to ruin business arrangements with the Germans at this time.

The same dudes are still slandering Jews, international banking, George Soros, lol. Same dudes talk about how the rothschilds are trying to rule America and Europe.

No this isn't the common social conservative who just want their neighborhood to be safe and women on general to not be promiscuous. Edited that sentence be less acerbic. What there are still plenty a dude's that freak out about International banking George Soros and use other code works like that.

If you claim something it's your responsibility to provide background and detail for that claim not send your doubters on google because you're intellectually lazy.

that's impossible to people that refuse to accept widely held views or facts.. or even alternative facts.
no brain no headache.

We were not in any danger.. 9/11 was the closest, in response we attacked a different country..
We have not been AT WAR with anyone since Vietnam, some of that is debatable.

I'd imagine libertarians aren't too thrilled about drafts

Correct. It is slavery.

And GS wouldn't have prevented anything. We've been through this.

What I have an issue with, is false attribution.

Point out where slavery is outlawed in the Constitution?

:)

It is what justifies the draft and incarceration.

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction

WW2 was about containing or stopping the Germans from taking the world, the collection of cold war wars was about stopping the commies from taking over the world.

Only real difference is with the Germans it was a head on, throw everything you got at it where as with the commies it was a series of proxy wars because both sides were smart enough not to end humanity with nukes.

Both were struggles of containment, one was just way more acute than the other.

So simplistic.

One was an existential threat, we were attacked at Pearl Harbor. We were not contaiining nazism, we were profiting off of it until we were dragged in the war. Furthermore, fascism is the marriage of political and corporate power, and Mussolini preferred corporatism as a more descriptive term. Reality reflected this, as they marched around in their Hugo Boss uniforms, IBM computers managed the Holocaust, Bayer provided zyklon b, nestle nazi rations, standard oil powered their tanks, all the American car campanies were providing parts for the Reich, who were colonists and attacking their neighbors.

The Vietnamese were not an existential threat, they were actually a failed colony for the french then US, who had rice and rifles, were marxists and the opposite of corporatism...peasants with guns fighting for self determination. We picked the wrong side in a civil war.

German companies, predominantly owned by Germans were supporting Germans in the war. That's some cutting edge analysis.

We went into Vietnam to prevent the spread of Communism, stop with the historical revisionism. We didn't wan't them as our imperial colony so we can exploit them for rice and sugar.

TIL it is ok to profit off of a Holocaust if they look and talk like you.

I never expected a full throated endorsement of cultural relativism nowdays.

I'm done here for now Mr. Concrete Operational.
