I can't wait to see all those conspiracy 2nd amendment kooks bear arms. This is exactly the day they dream about.

The top two items purchased were guns and toilet paper. Toilet paper to survive... and guns to protect the toilet paper.

I'm not opposed to this in theory, but it would require a sophisticated voting population to ensure that the government doesn't abuse it. We don't have that in America, so I'll go with no.

I'm in favor of absolute personal freedom in this instance, because I support COVID-19. Cleanse the housing market, open up some well-paying positions, and purge the unclean.

the problem with prioritizing safety over freedom is that history has proven it very difficult to get the freedom back after the crisis is over.

Corona does not threaten the existence of civilization. It will undoubtedly leave its mark on our cultural norms, but 100 years from now people may even consider that mark to have been a net positive for human progression.

Europeans have no issue with their government, or at least; not too much.

Yes to using anonymized data to track population movement and such.

A strict no to using personal/identifiable data.

In general, if people who tested positive know that their phones will be tracked and they want to go outside nonetheless, they would just leave their phone at home. So due to this form of moral hazard, I actually think that personal data could be more unreliable than anonymous data.

About 6-8 years ago, (right after they passed a law in the US that all cell phones had to have sim cards), a whole slew of articles popped up (from reliable sites), proving that the phone could be tracked. The data even included a time line, so they could tell how long you spent at each place during the day.

I never saw any proof that the data collected, was being monitored... but it is collected.

I would imagine that the govt. thought it was a good idea to have the data available if they ever needed it.

Anyway, I voted for #2.
