This reverse secession is actually pretty cool.

1. Dems take over a state's govt.
2. They then attempt to pass state laws that their constituency doesn't want.
3. Then, instead of the Dems seceding from the Union, the constituency secedes from the Dems.
4. Best of all, the constituency doesn't even have to move to get a state govt. they want.

That part of the state? We could probably do without it.

It's sparsely populated and there's just not much up there in terms of industry. That area of CA is only a portion of 2 congressional districts.

You can always get the majority of a group not consenting by drawing the lines in the right places.

Land area doesnt vote. As long as you draw the lines right you can make An arbitrarily large contiguous land area that has less than 50% consent. Its arbitrary.
