If this was a reasonable reaction to something Iran did, it would have been done with proportionate force. By saying this, Trump literally admitted that this attack is unprovoked, which means he's aiming to start a war for his own benefit rather than to defend the USA against some threat.

Soleimani is responsible for the deaths of at least 500 american soldiers and civilians in the past two decades. To say it was an unprovoked attack is ridiculous. Gwb and Obama both considered plans to have him killed during their time in the white house, they turned down the plans not because Soleimani didn’t deserve to die but because they were worried about the public reaction.

He was a terrorist and a mass murderer operating in the open because he was protected by the popularity of his terrorism in the region. We let it go on far longer than can possibly be justified, his support of the attack on the american embassy on new year’s day was the final straw, and the world is much better off without him.

I don't know what to believe when news outlets are praising Suleimani as some kind of folk hero.
