He has pardoned 3 war criminals so far, and interfered in the discipline of another, and the discipline of those that covered up his crimes. I'd say he's on that path.

Trump's really not a great guy, but he's nowhere near being a war criminal. It's odd to me how easy many left-wing people have forgotten the shit GWB pulled (not just abroad, do people even remember the Patriot Act?). So far Trump's just been fairly ineffective, he hasn't accomplished all that much other than the Tax cuts. Mostly due to the Dem majority Congress.

i doubt that pointing out how trump escalated the drone strikes and pardoned war criminals, even against resistance from the pentagon and his own secretary of defence, means that "left-wing people" have forgotten about the bush war crimes, or obama's terrible track record in that area. the fact that someone else might have been even worse doesn't 'absolve' anyone, and most "left-wing people" are in fact very critical of obama for it.

btw, i point to the patriot act regularly when someone unreflectedly brags about american "freedom", when in fact most western societies are considerably more "free" overall...

just to be clear: bush's war crimes were indeed significantly worse, and i'm actually with you in that nepotism and self-dealing are probably THE defining aspects of trump's presidency, but that doesn't mean there aren't good arguments to be made, particularly about the unapologetic pardoning of war criminals, that even the pentagon and his own secdef objected to.
