that's basically how we have it. i make enough to survive alone, she does also but wouldnt ever live alone so plenty of cash to not have to worry about selling the house instantly or anything.

and we both have hefty life insurance policies as well.

im sure i'll slow down on the work once kids come, but for now it's 5 hour sleep nights and 6 day work weeks to pad the bank account.

Not to be a debbie downer or anything, but in general life is way more fun when you're younger.

Are you sure you're not going to get any regrets from working that much and having so little free time?

this is basically the reason i sleep 5 hours a night. i get home and still garden, play D2, work with my chickens, play disc golf, etc. and i dont have many layaround type days, on weekends im always planning and doing something be it a trip somewhere or house renovations.

also, like Thor said, i get most of my "social time" in while working lol. i can do my job while posting on d2jsp literally all day.

i try, both subconsciously and consciously im sure, to emulate my grandfather. who ran a farm full time, while also running a gun store, while also running a skeet range on weekends, while also being a boat saleman, while also doing part time security guard work and working as a reserve deputy for the Sherrif's dept, oh and teaching hunters and boaters safety courses. the man was an animal, but as soon as he "retired" and only had the gun store you could see it was the work that kept him chipper. now that we've closed the store he's down to only teaching hunter's safety courses and u can tell he's not happy about all of the downtime.

You buy a building and rent it, it's just the safest solution including a recession (which could be a serious, major one) that will just shoot at point blank any plan.

When you have enough non work income to live comfortably without having to sell assets.
I am retired now and loving it, i volunteer for two organisations and i get to go treasure hunting and fishing whenever i like.

Somewhat related, as the ability to retire depends on having acquired a certain amount of wealth in order to do so:

According to Federal Reserve statistics, the percentage of US wealth held by each generation when the average age of each was 35:

Baby Boomers (1989) - 21%
Generation X (2008) - 8%
Millennials - Currently at 3%. The average millennial won't turn 35 until 2023.

I have no plans of retirement.

I really need the structure.

Basically my attitude as well. I dont see the point in aggressively sacrificing free time to earn more while I'm young and enjoying my life just so I can have an excess of free time when I'm old. It's all about the balance.
I'm doing fine, earning enough to pay all my bills and have a decent chunk left to put to the side each month while also working towards further qualifications and enjoying a healthy amount of free time. Got a 6-figure sum in the bank account/portfolio anyway, so I have something to fall back on if things go south for whatever reason.

Since I'm sceptical of ever wanting kids and have no siblings or nephews/nieces, any money left in my bank account when I die will be "wasted". I've seen multiple persons who worked hard all their life, built up big savings and pension claims, only for them to die from a heart attack at age 55, or be diagnosed with cancer at 61 and die at 62 or shit like that. Particularly when it comes to the pension claims, these people who died shortly before retirement age are duped.

At least at the moment, I'd rather earn 58k € per year working 40h/week than 100k € working 70h/week.

Cheapest assisted living like 4k a month. Get long term care insurance but don't expect too much out of it.

Keep making government bigger, they'll figure it out.
