His cousin (I think? A close relative at least) is still CEO of accuweather, and he has significant family connections to the company still.

Anyway, he's been introduced for like two years straight and he can't get confirmed. Seems this is so blatant that even Republicans can't support it.

The reason i didn't post the john oliver video is because conservatives would take the exact opposite side of whatever the guy is talking about on principle
if they saw the bit he did on anti-vaccers they'd all be against vaccinations i say

I just think the Dems dont want to bring any public attention to the fact that there's a black dude in Trump's cabinet. To low attention low information voters, the optics of this would counteract the "Trump is the worst racist in decades"- and the "administration of old white men"-talking points. Particularly with black voters who arent very engaged in politics, bringing attention to Carson would be risky for Democrats.


black people certainly are familiar with the term uncle tom, they sling it at their own all the time. the black population in america isn't fooled by a single secretary.

my opinion of john oliver has been floundering lately. last sunday he accused voting machines of connecting to the internet, after showing a clip where it was explained they communicate modem-to-modem 1v1. It's like a Fax. That's why businesses still use Fax for important documents. Because it isn't the fucking Internet.

You have to assume a level of dishonesty/bias/error and just pure stupidity from any source of social/political analysis no matter what.

Oliver has had some misses since the reality is, it's him and a staff of people which means a lot of bullshit seeps into that.

Just research what you can, try to avoid confirmation bias but you will still be affected by it. Being informed is hard and evaluating what is reasonable or pragmatic after being informed is even harder.
