agreed on france, but how does italy not already count? italy, poland, hungary... they already have their trumps - maybe not quite as brash, not quite as powerful, not quite as incompetent and clownish, but in terms of 'ideology'...
Well, Italy currently has a center-left government in power, although they dont have a mandate form the people and all polls show Salvini's Lega whooping their asses. And it's not just the polls, there were regional elections in a province north of Rome a couple of weeks ago - a region which had been under rule of the socialist party for literally decades, and this time around, they got crushed by the Lega candidate who will now become the new governor (or whatever it's called) of said province.
Basically, the Trumpian right-wing populists dont hold power in Italy right now, but it is only a matter of time. Keep in mind that the current Socialist-MS5 coalition government is volatile and born out of sheer desperation. These two parties used to be arch enemies and hate each other. And the average duration of Italian governments post-ww2 is about 18 months, so it seems very unlikely that this particular government would be able to hold for another 4 years until the next regularly scheduled election.

i think the trump brand kind of transcends the genre. he's more than an ideological alt righter with boomer tendencies. he's constantly and overly vocal, and a jerk on an international scale. i cant ever remember international diplomacy ever like this, remember the cancelled flight to Greenland over twitter?
Basically, only the president of a country as powerful and indispensable as the United States can afford to act like such a jerk on the world stage and get away with it. If the PM of Italy or Canada acted this way, the rest of the world would tell him to fuck right off.
