A company spends a lot of time, money, effort, etc., to get to where they want to be. Then Kaepernick, or some 22 year old kid comes along and USURPS that company's venue for their own purposes.

It doesn't matter what that purpose is... it's theft of venue. Nothing more, nothing less.



If they want international exposure, then there is nothing stopping those people from forking over the millions of dollars that an international stage would end up costing.

These things happen all the time. Blizzard is going to lose WAY more $$ due to their harsh reaction than they would have if they had privately talked with him and issued a quick clarifying statement.

If you designed a new kind of airplane and someone stole the idea and used it for themselves....how would you feel?


Whether or not these "things happen all the time" doesn't mean that usurping someones venue is legal. Persoanlly I'm on the 22 year old HK kid's side... but I am against his "methods". That's NOT the way to get sympathy from the US.

Actually, it is, because most gamers are really fucking pissed at Blizzard now. His actions WORKED because a bunch of people now support Hong Kong when they were previously apathetic...myself included.

And yes, I would be mad if someone stole my idea for a new airplane. You know what I wouldn't do though? I wouldn't kidnap his children. I wouldn't murder him. I wouldn't torture him. I'd make sure that the PUNISHMENT fit the CRIME.

Let's go back a year or so...and look at the Kaepernick issue. Did he hurt the NFL? Not at all. Is he out of a job and in a situation where no other NFL team will touch him? Yes.


Stealing time, w/e on someone else's venue is not right or legal. Blizzard IS being nice, they could probably have sued the HK kid and left him to rot in jail.



/e Btw, you can't say what you would do, until you find yourself IN the situation. Like, what if for some reason your family's welfare depends on you and just you getting credit and the monies, for that airplane design.
