Everyone against this move should enact sanctions immediately. Especially Trump since he said he would destroy there economy as the great genius leader he is.

Trump shouldn't publicize this crap. It's embarrassing.

The United States is moving out of the way of a unilateral Turkish offensive. The other options (leave soldiers in there to die?) aren't appealing, and the United States isn't going to get into a war with Turkey.

This guy was previously envoy to Syria under Obama and Trump. Good person to follow on this issue.

We sold out the Kurds?

What the actual fuck?

They've been our greatest allies in the region since Desert Storm.

I've said for years that the closest we are to a new holocaust is Turkey and the Kurds. Guess a pansy being in office just speeds that process along.

Trump says Turkey's attack is 'a bad idea'

US President Donald Trump warned Turkey against attacking Syria, saying its air assault was "a bad idea" not backed by the United States, and called on Ankara to protect religious minorities.

"The United States does not endorse this attack and has made it clear to Turkey that this operation is a bad idea," Trump said in a statement released by the White House.

"Turkey has committed to protecting civilians, protecting religious minorities, including Christians, and ensuring no humanitarian crisis takes place - and we will hold them to this commitment."

Soo what happened to obliterating their economy?

so, what's Trump actually thinking? Putin finally demanded that Trump fulfill the promise?

Let's say Putin/Trump had a deal before the election: If Putin can help Trump with the election, Trump will use the power to pull US troops out of the region.

Putin's been waiting for 3 years for Trump to finally come through on his end of the deal. Putin sees that impeachment is creeping up, so he tells Trump: "You better do it now or else I will release the videos I have of you and the prostitutes in the hotel room." If those videos get out, Trump knows his days are numbered. So Trump figures that the less painful option will be to deal with the political fallout of this military blunder.

Well, what's Trump thinking with this move? I'm trying to look at a seemingly nonsensical decision and project some framework of logic onto it. You have a better explanation than mine?

I have no idea why he's doing this, but i can surely craft a better theory. I don't agree with the move at all - for the record.

He's strongly proclaimed himself as a isolationist and views most of the occupations/wars we've done in the middle east as fruitless and bad for the US.

He probably views this situation in the same light and is withdrawing as an "I told you I would" action.

Or maybe it's the pee tape. It's gotta be the pee tape.
