As a non-US citizen who has been to the US multiple times in the last decade, your borders are far from open.

Coming by air, sure. Boats, cars, and feet? Much more so.

I came by car over the border with Canada twice. Was actually worse than coming by air.

Because stealing is wrong.

They dont pay the same amount that they take regardless of the math used.

Maybe you thought it was difficult, I could go to Canada this weekend when I go hunting and not see a cop (BWCA). 12 million people and counting have pulled it off, more if you count doing it multiple times.

When tons of US citizens go bankrupt because of medical bills, undocumented immigrants receiving free medical care feels very unfair.

But instead of taking the medical care away from the immigrants, the better option would be to make sure the American populace has access to affordable healthcare.

Undocumented immigrants pay taxes though, so they're paying into a system you feel they shouldn't be able to access?

Open borders (kind of the de facto state right now).

Generous welfare state.

Pick one.

We don't have open borders, and undocumented immigrants both don't qualify for many welfare programs, but also pay into those programs via taxes.

They already get healthcare if they present to ED and have criteria to be admitted. It’s tax dollars and hospital dollars that pay these expensive admissions.

I am all for giving them a path to primary care because ultimately this will significantly decrease healthcare costs via preventing admissions.

Tax dollars that they contribute to though.

Looking to start a thread to hear from those opposed to us providing healthcare to undocumented immigrants and the reasoning why.

'we' "provide" healthcare? thought everything was paid out of pocket so those money-hungry doctors can buy another ferrari *LAUGH OUT LOUD* or wait didn't the Affordable Health Care Act fix everything? The media said as much *LAUGH OUT LOUD*

Healthcare in the US is already very broken, if we could fix that or make the 90% of common ailments affordable to treat, then I'd be 100% for opening it up. Or shift the culture to preventative care, or primary care membership stuff...

I'm always baffled by things like the cost of an x-ray considering it was discovered around 1895. Medical industry in the US a bit of an outlier with technology depreciation curves...

What Santa is correctly refering to i believe is that DNC candidates want healthcare for immigrants AND they want crossing the border decriminalized. so this would be a potential reality.
