it actually happens in a lot of cases to people in the last stage.
whatever savings you have on top of your s/s check dwindle or a health problem eats it all up. before you know if you're looking at 100% of your s/s check going to rent and whatever u can put towards the various payment plans you've got and you're sitting on 15$ worth of food stamps for a weeks worth of groceries.
this is the exact situation my ex-step mom is in. we've been keeping her off of catfood or equally shitty food with donations of food from the church. but she hasn't bought anything new in a few years, she has less than no money.
im sure Skinned would have actual examples of the catfood people from his line of work. grossest thing i've seen is people cooking with motor oil.
