Wikipedia can be written, edited and manipulated by whoever wants to do it. I will repeat here what I have said since I started posting here in 2013: internet graphics, statistics, etc, mean nothing to me and to us venezuelans. We have seen first hand how all of that is manipulated aimed for international propaganda. Inside Venezuela we could clearly see all those statistics, charts, graphs, whatever bullshit is it said in wikipedia or any other website, its all BS when you are seeing first hand the opposite.

One would also think that it's not tooooo hard to run a functioning, prosperous state when your country is in possession of the largest oil reserves in the entire world. Like, seriously: how can you even fuck this up? They even HAD enough resources to fund normal-scale socialism, they were naturally rich enough to cope with the inefficiencies and problems of normal-scale socialism, and they still found a way to run it into the ground.

Venezuela's development over the last couple of years is the textbook definition of "epic fail".

Also, it's arguably easier to stay stable without resources the whole world will fuck you over to get. They should have used the resources to do like the Norwegian countries are doing and invest in technology.
