Putin only favored Trump because he was a real American looking to deal honestly with Russia. He understood that the invasion of Crimea was simply a justified seizure of land, totally within the rules of international treaties. After all, any land where people speak Russian is justifiably a Russian territory.
It's only a coincidence that Trump's rhetoric is totally contrary to his administration's actions vs. Russia.
Although i reiterated about a dozen times why Russia taking over Crimea was justified at least in Russias eyes i'll do it again.
We can probably both agree that Ukraine has shifted away from being friendly w/Russia. What do you think would of happened to Russias biggest warm water military port that houses it's southern fleet as Ukraine shifts closer to NATO?
Secondly, Crimea in reality was not historically Ukrainian land. It was essentially signed over to Ukraine by Kruhschev in 1954, because at that time it didn't really matter since the USSR existed and it was a union similar to the US in some ways. Most of Crimeas population is ethnic Russians, and if you want to look at ownership from a historical perspective, the Russians have held Crimea for hundreds of years.
