Can't stop presidential politics over incompetence in emailing though.
It just isn't criminal in our justice system without intent. Serious intent too, not the slippery slope intent resident libertarians are talking about either.
Also nothing bad happened, an important detail.
As I mentioned, I do not object to the FBI's decision in isolation.
However, it is abundantly clear that Hillary Clinton has repeatedly lied to the American public about this situation.
So something bad has happened. Our future president is exceptionally untrustworthy. I argue that it is our civic duty to hold our leaders and government to high standards and demand that they be transparent and honest.
I think that we are so wrapped up in the implications of this decision on the presidential race that we are forgetting what it all means in the larger scope of things. We are so used to our government and public servants being dishonest that we hardly see any issue with it when all the facts are presented to us.
I'm not sure why Hillary being the lesser evil compared to Donald Trump is good enough for most Americans, as if that fact alone enables us to turn a blind eye to the blatant problems with the prospect of a Hillary Clinton presidency. Many Americans look at this situation and say "So what? She lied and she's done some sketchy stuff? She's been in politics for decades, that's normal."
Dishonesty and corruption are our new normal, and that's a problem. Americans now accept a baseline amount of these items in their future president and their government. As long as we find ourselves saying things like "So what? She repeatedly lied to us. Big deal." then we have no right to complain when our government is dishonest with us or demonstrates a lack of transparency.
The entire scandal, the FBI, the emails, the private servers and all that jazz aside, Americans should be outraged that their likely next President so blantatly lied to them - over and over again. As long as we set our bar for honesty and integrity in government and leadership so low, then we get what we deserve in that department.
