Give me a break.  Minorities aren't going to be disenfranchised.  Think about it.  You NEED an ID to get welfare, food stamps, social security, alcohol, cigarettes, etc.  Are you going to tell me those aren't things minorities do all the time?  LOL!

You also need a photo ID to get married, open up a bank account, and to get a job. Seriously, the only people I can think of who don't have this are fucking homeless people.

lol. Yea, fuck them.

But you don't need an ID to vote.  Until now that is and for no good reason.  Why all of a sudden place new obstacles on voting?  Right before an election?  And don't give me that phony, debunked many times over, tripe about voter fraud.

Right, which is really, really silly. You make it seem like it's SO HARD to get an ID. Oh the INHUMANITY!!! And it's not right before an election, it's been going on for a while. For example, Indiana passed a voter ID law in 2005. Rhode Island did it in 2011. But I'm sure, those nasty conservatives in Rhode Island did it to disenfranchise minorities.

from the stats i've read, 14% of voters there don't have the necessary id's

and if they're unable to secure it by election time for whatever reasons

too bad - they don't get it to vote - and that's perfectly fine?

It boggles the mind that it's not a requirement already given that you need an ID for everything else and I couldn't help but laugh when they said it'd hurt college students. Really? how the hell did they make it to college with no ID?

They've had how long? I mean we do the same thing with abortion. If you get pregnant, you don't wait 7-8 months before trying to get an abortion. If they are that concerned about voting, they need to take responsibility. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse to break it.

For me, its not a big deal to go down to the DMV and spend $20 for a new ID. But what about the elderly, disabled and the indigent? You're still talking millions of people.

They're probably talking about out of state college students.

again, if i believed this was legitimately about stopping voter fraud i wouldn't care

do you honestly believe that's the intent here?

didn't they do something similar a while back bumping eligible voters off the voters list in florida?

The elderly who are collecting medicare and social security...which you need an ID for? By the way, how are the disabled going to get to the polls? They will do absentee (I think you should be required to give a fingerprint for this). As for the poor, states are offering FREE IDs...so what's the big deal?
