Spend your entire life trying to preserve your consciousness and that is all that you know so the exact opposite is frightening.

I was using "I dont remember shit" in more of a metaphorical sense.

Basically I didn't "exist" yet.. (ie. I wouldnt remember because theres nothing to remember)

Accept as maybe an embryo in my parents body.

Really this is getting too deep. My belief is much more simple(and logical in my opinion) when compared to others beliefs.

Once again I don't fully belief anything but this is just whats makes sense to me, and I thought I would share it.

Always open for discussion though.

I don't. As a matter of fact I am almost completely worry free of dying. My job is fairly dangerous as well as most my hobbies/activities.

I do not fear death. The only thing to fear is a life not lived to its potential. Or put more simply, an unhappy life, And for some this is inevitable.

And since I don't believe there is anything after death, I spend most my time taking steps to enjoy my life.

Once again I'll say (for the people wanting "facts") I am not saying my beliefs are correct. It's just what feels right to me and I benefit from them.
Also I will say again, I don't fully believe anything. I just keep an open mind and go with the flow.. as cliche as that may sound. :D

That's better.

Personally, I find death mysterious because nobody has ever talked to anyone who has died ever. Also because 90%+ of the world believes there is some sort of life after death.

Plus I wonder what passing into death would be like. It's supposed to be a profound psychedelic experience.

I'll be on a heavy dose of Brompton cocktail when I pass (heroin and cocaine/meth). Should be fun.

Is that supposed to be an argument? 90+ of the world believes and has believed many things...

Death can be said to be a profound psychedelic experience probably because the whole losing consciousness and, you know, dying part. That doesn't really support any notion of death being a "mysterious" process. It could be seen as one of the more simple processes the human body goes through.

Yup means there's an innate human tendency to ponder death and what significance it has. Same with God and such.

It's a profound psychedelic experience because chemicals like DMT are released.

Anyone who thinks it ISN'T mysterious is naive. We know nothing about how consciousness works, and likewise we know nothing about how loss of consciousness works. Not to mention the overwhelming concept among millions of mystics and all the Eastern religious groups that self is an illusion. If there is no self, what is dying? Maybe we are all a single entity without beginning or end.

Ok now I sound all hippy dippy, I'll stop.

Heres something to think about.

Depending on a persons personal religious belief.

Does this have a significant effect on their fear of death? Or does it change the "value of life"?

life as a whole is a mystery, and if death is a part of life then it too would be considered a mystery

the way Hawking put it we know more about the origins of our very universe than we do life itself

I would agree its mysterious I guess. I should have chose a different topic title.

Basically I acknowledge I know little about what really happens after death. Or whether or not there's a higher power. Usually I go with a more "logical" idea..

It is fun to theorize and talk about. And compare others beliefs to our own.

To people that are not so set on their beliefs, and "keep an open mind"
