Well, i don't think they should have Marriage. I believe that they should get their own thing but not marriage because marriage was originally designed for a man and a woman to be put in wed lock if men and men or women and women wish to be put into something of the same sort they should but not called marriage because thats just discriminating marriage because it is a sacred bond between a man and a women. if there was something for Gay or Lesbian relationships men and women could not be allowed into that sacred bond because its designed for men and men or women and women

I don't know if its clear or not. so yeah.

As it stands, not having marriage puts us out of having over 1,100 rights and benefits that you get.

I mean, they should have the exact same rights that marriage is put under BUT give it a different name.
would technically be the same thing but a different name.

That would require federal law changes.

Separate but equal was such an award winning idea last time.

Either get rid of government recognized marriage and replace it with civil unions for everyone (then the churches can marry whoever the fuck they want), or allow gays to enter into marriage as the best way to ensure that they receive all the same rights.

ABSOLUTELY NOT

this is a states rights issue. i think that gays should get federal benefits in states that allow it. it should be federally indifferent, meaning doma should be repealled and rights should be granted per state

This.

Are any politicians expressing this viewpoint?

Yeah I'm for that as well. The government should refuse to recognize marriage due to the religious implications, and should allow civil unions for all (people - not joe smoe and his pet rabbit fluffy.)
