Data Centers are a requirement and they are here to stay. As with all new technology, a massive monetary investment is required at the outset and it takes years, sometimes decades, for profits to come in, but it is generally accepted that the long term profits will be massive. The problem that you have outlined is line someone walking along and stepping in Poo. It would be optimal if the people building all these things considered the room.

As with most of these things, profit will be massive but not repaid to the public who footed the bill to make it all possible. Just like medical research, govt funded just so we can get the privilege of buying 100k$ cancer meds that only got made because we funded it.

We're at the edge of a serious plateau of diminishing returns. infant mortality is at a seriously reduced rate, cancer survival has skyrocketed over the past decades, etc. And there's no real way to improve life after age 80, you can ensure someone lives to 110, you just cant make them enjoy it. All in an environment where healthcare costs are ballooning. So even the best payoff of AI is losing effectiveness as it swings in.

AI truly has no credible upside to society, it will improve some people's lives on a micro level, but overall it's just a big profit machine for the elites. Both corporations and the government who can control people far more effectively. It's about as useless to the wellbeing of society in general as television, big time waster and cash cow. helped almost no one.

There's a fairly easy solution here for big tech to get wholesale buy in from everyone. Make electricity free or near free for residential consumers. At the very least guarantee, that costs for the resi side wont go up. Imagine a world where household electrical bills are capped at 50 bucks. The whole anti-AI movement would go away. But of course that's not going to happen. Instead you will hear of record profits, record compute capex while resi rates will continue to outpace inflation.

Eat Japanese Food.

no no no. our poor health cant POSSIBLY be the food we eat. everyone knows food has nothing to do with health, let alone weight. i have fat genetics, there's nothing i can do. if i stopped eating i'd actually get fatter, this sugar is keeping me thin.

but for real, well ahead of you. i eat a pretty japanese diet overall. almost all whole foods, no processed, most of it i try and grow personally or source locally.

East Asian food are actually pretty good and healthy... apart from Dogs of course...The Korean Government finally banned Dog meat consumption last year I think.
I hope the Chinese ban it in very near future although there is only one county in China that still continue with the practice.

Northern Part of Vietnam also practice the consumption of Dog meat and if the internet is true, some rural parts of Switzerland still do that.

I heard they tried but not officially because if they go hardcore on it there will be repercussions in Western media saying the CCP is oppressing the culture of their minorities.

Overall, Japanese food and actually food in Hong Kong and Macau and last but not least Taiwan are the "healthiest" a lot of folks live past the age of 90 and you will be surprise that they also smoke and drink.

Actually the smoker ratio in Japan isn't that low, I often got annoyed by smokers in Japan's city alley, but Americans food is not healthy, that's for sure. Too much sugar spike.

This reminds me how newer phones are no longer giving you external SD card slot to store your data. Instead introducing cloud based data centers which begin charging you a monthly subscription fees.

They are trying to extract as much money as they can to the point where you will own nothing and be happy. Well we all know where it is headed.
I am not longer buying that crap.
