We celebrate the legitmate ethnic Germans. Not the sewage that has rolled in since the EU opened the valves.

When I lived in texas, went to the Oktoberfest there and it was a ton of fun.
The part that really left an impression on me was all the people who were there celebrating german cuisine, drink and culture.
That was the only time I've ever seen a black guy and a mexican guy wearing Lederhosen.

Because the entire US public education was built with "Naziesque" "bells and whistles" a nation of "workers" we relate on the deepest level subconsciously because we "America" adopted systems of control/levers that the Nazi's found during pre/post war.

So we are brainwashed to love Germans because Germans built a lot of the systems we all use everyday. The corporations that run our lives in the US were all headed up with Nazi scientist during project Paperclip when we took the best scientist people such as Verner Von Braun and Einstein who studied ancient Sanskrit to figure out how to get us to space and advance rocketry to such a way that now the US dominates the world with satelittle technology and weapons systems that make nuclear bombs look like "tinker toys".

We won WW2 because we dropped Atom bombs on the Japaneese and the technology was built by Germans just like my cars.

I love Germany aside from the fact when I visited Berlin I ended up in one of those Muslim no go zones and got ostracized for taking a picture of a cool building.

Im german and have been to america few times now, even was in highschool for few time. Later on i visited US few times for vacation or visiting family over there.

Everytime when americans recognize im german, due the brilliant german accent^^ they go "ohhh germany hell yeah, rammstein DU HAST or 99 luftballons, they celebrate me for being german.
The only people who were "sceptical" are the old 80+ y dudes, alll other were celebrating.

I know we had hitler, but that cannot be the only reason for germans being celebrated for being german no?

What else makes americans love germans?

I like Austrians I think they are very artistic.

...eh

America is a massive German diaspora. So many of our cultural traditions are German. Easter egg hunts, Christmas trees, burgers pretzels and frankfurters, a good part of public education, etc. I don't think "Americans love Germans" but most people admire the stereotype that Germans are efficient precise and productive. Whether or not "love" factors in is more an individual thing.

I think a lot of it comes from over-romanticizing German military efficacy in the world wars. Waves of unarmed Soviets overwhelming brave and few Germans with superior weaponry. Billions of games and movies pumping them up as formidable bad guys. German cars tend to look cool and be expensive in the states. No offense but IMO it's a tad overrated, all of it. German military performance in WW2 was in my nerdy amateur historian's opinion pretty lacking. They did great when all their opponents were pathetic, but against the Brits, Soviets, and Americans, they quickly found themselves in an impossible situation. And also the cars are indeed cool, but every American who buys a BMW is a fucking douchebag for some reason
