I witness people feeling patronized by simply disagreeing with them. They mistake a different opinion for someone trying to silence them.
A good example from where iam living is meat consumption. There are literally no laws against meat consumption. If someone openly states that meat consumption is way above average of other compareable countries and it leads to higher risk of getting disease A,B,C then common reaction will be "omg they want to forbid our Schnitzels".
You’re partially right. But what you don’t see is that Germans or Poles tend to lash out aggressively against such narratives when Brussels tend to force their agenda on the countries, its politicians and citizens to e.g.: accept illegal migrants of unknown origin, otherwise you’re bad person. Forcing the green deal which will harm the economies and financial stability. If you don’t buy electric car and go green, we will make you. Forcing cultural diversity when certain cultures are simply not compatible and shouldn’t be imported in mass. All of this literally go against best interest of your own people living in Europe.
Having all this, year after year, even innocent post about health risk regarding eating meat is just like poking a stick into smoldering fire.
Then you have other studies saying that meat is vital, especially during growing up, you need proteins and that’s not disputable.
