You mean they're a functional outpost - they buy US weapons with money that the US gave them. They're a US funded outpost, they don't and can't produce nearly enough to fund themselves without conquering a lot more productive territory. Israel is a net cost, the argument in favour of Israel is that that cost is absolutely worth it to have a powerful outpost in enemy lands, I'm just saying that the US should have operational control over its own outpost

Israel is operating on a surplus. We could cut 100% of our funding to them, and they'd still buy our weapons. The weapons deal is between private companies and Israel.

Next step? Trump needs to cut foreign aid to Israel. But he won't, because he's an incredibly strong supporter of Israel, and has been since day one. He's okay giving them taxpayer money. It sucks, but it won't change any more than it did under Biden or Obama.

Plenty of choice. We just haven't managed to find a single politician willing to cut them off. Israel is a profitable nation. They don't need foreign aid. They're also a valuable business partner, and a lot of weapons development projects wouldn't happen without their investments, as well as Australia and a dozen other nations.

Our primary interest in Israel is they want the highest grade, most cutting edge defensive tech weapons. That ranges from jets to firearms to the iron dome. They don't have all the same shit we do, but a lot of it is very very similar. We need their funding on weapons projects. We also need them to have a level of proficiency with a lot of our weapons in case we end up fighting beside them. They are an ALLY. Not a supplicant, and not in need of handouts. So, it's fucked up. We NEED them as a business partner to help bring up the bulk needed for mass manufacturing processes to be built. We DON'T need to steal money from our taxpayers to convince Israel to invest. Because a lot of what we invest in is at their direction.

The iron dome was actually developed by my country and Israel as a join venture. It is not exactly well known since my country is surrounded by 350 million Muslims. So we need to be sensitive.
