I agree it was an impossible situation. In regards to covid and much of that was covid relief funding, although a lot of it was allocated very poorly under Trump; easy to see in hindsight and impossible to know if Hillary would've done better. Probably not. But everything suggests that Democrats have done a better job at growing our economy than the Republicans. Between Trump and Biden's policies we have had massive inflation but instead of Trump fixing the issue he's going after unrelated cuts because he knows if he were to go after those responsible for profiting off our inflation have more power than some overpaid federal work forces.

That is to say, all of this is smoke and mirrors. It's "saving" and misdirection. At the very best, it might break even. At the very worst; we crumble and fall into third world territory.

What would you do, his last administration all these groups the taxpayers are forced to pay worked against him constantly in an attempted coup.
So of course he's going to go for retribution this time or else it will just work out like it did last time.

You made the claim, you support the claim this is usually how arguments work mate.

I work in finance, i have an econ degree and i disagree, so i don't care about your supposed consensus.

But again please share the strategic plan you have in mind to address this level of deficit and debt, I'm more curious to hear solutions.

I never said I had a plan. I never claimed I was an economist. As for the support of the claim: Again it's just word of mouth. A lot of conservatives seem to be uneasy with a lot of what Trump is doing when they are honest about it. I'm talking about upper-middle class conservatives, though. You have an econ degree though. What do you do? Do you have a career in economics or are you just referring to some degree that is meaningless now since you haven't applied it.

I work in corporate underwriting and i have an econ/mba, but this is irrelevant and only brought it up because you want to pretend there's overwhelming consensus. There really isn't.

Of course these cuts will hurt in the short term, there's really no denying that but the alternative to do nothing is exponentially worse.

I'm tired of criticisms without solutions. If you don't like what's currently done ok fine, but then find another way to address this massive issue, doing nothing is no longer an option. Over the next decade SS solvency will be tested, our ability to fund other things will be tested as debt servicing cost will start to eat away the other spending.

At some point we have to address the unsustainable spending path we're on. It's the same as your personal finances, it's only for so long that you will be able to max out your credit cards before you run into issues. People want to pretend that a country can indefinitely spend way more than it takes in via tax receipts and it somehow works out in the end. That's not the way it works.

Personally if I were president I wouldn't do something just out of spite. It's childish behavior when you hold such a high position. I do agree with cuts to military spending. I do think we have far too many useless federal programs and I think we should cut those but Trump has gone too far. He is being reckless.

Sorry for delayed response. Got suspended.

I like a few things about Trump. I do not like him. No. I prefer his honesty over the scum Democrats like Biden and Harris. But that's not a high bar.

I'm just trying to figure out why you continually rail against Trump, even though he's only 1 month into his 2nd term.
Did you expect a dozen eggs to cost... $1.95 after one month?
It takes a while to grow back 100 million chickens. ^^

Because I have a reference of his first term and I do not like what he has been doing? It's an entire fiasco. I also do not think what he has been doing is good, even for the long-term.

Well if I was a lefty liberal... I wouldn't like what he is doing either. ^^

Drain the swamp.. by replacing it with a bunch of corrupt cronies and yes men. That's the problem. If Trump really did drain the swamp. I would have supported him. He did not.
